Downtown Collingwood
Walkable, social, and close to everything
If the part of Toronto you will miss is being able to walk for coffee, downtown Collingwood is usually the closest match. Hurontario and Simcoe Streets carry the daily rhythm of the town, and the residential streets behind them are quiet within a block.
This is the area I show most often to people leaving a walkable city neighbourhood. It answers the question people are really asking, which is whether they will still have a community after the move.
- Who it suits
- Buyers who want to walk out the door and be somewhere, and anyone downsizing from a city neighbourhood.
- Getting around
- Most errands on foot or by bike. Blue Mountain is a short drive, Toronto is about two hours.
- What you will find
- Century homes on tree lined streets, infill townhomes, and a growing number of low rise condos.
- Worth knowing
- Lots are often smaller and older homes can need work, so budget for character.
